  I woke up this morning to my neighbour singing “what the world needs now is love sweet love” at first I thought “you have got to be kidding me” and then I lay in bed listening to a note perfect rendition The Carpenters would have been proud of and thought “what a way to start the day”. All day I’ve been singing it in my head…this is magic. I personally want to live in a world where we value these things; that people act more responsibly, people care for each other and the planet and we have a sense of right and wrong and so I do it. I can’t make you do it, I can only hope to show you how much better things are when you do those things. “what the world needs now is love sweet love…”

  Nice thought. I’d urge you to watch the Imagine show on Simon & Garfunkel (BBC1 on Tuesday on iPlayer), which is a brilliant documentary about the making of Bridge Over Troubled Water. I’m no hippy but you can’t help but get carried away with the mood of the time when you watch it…
